Jenny Heaslip

Hi, my name is Jenny and I am from Brisbane Australia. I am an avid scrapbooker and photographer which means I have a lot of photos so I needed a way to get as many photos on a layout as I could. So, I started to create my interactive layouts which allowed me to not only scrap 20 to 30 photos at a time but I also got to see both sides of double sided scrapbook paper.  I love when people “explore” my pages and discover all the hidden “openable” or “liftable” components. I also love to scrap traditional layouts with multiple photos and always challenge myself to use as much of a paper pack as possible. I am also the Australian distributor for South African company Celebr8 and enjoy teaching classes with their amazing collections.

You can find me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JennyHeaslipScrapbooker/

Melissa Kennedy
As my business name states, we are all unique and unmistakable creations. Made up of everyday life experiences, growing and changing with each new day.

I've been fortunate to have been a part of this Industry for now well over 25 years and as mentioned in my very first blog post on this website, now starting to see how everything learnt along the way is coming together. I have been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with some big companies within this industry, learn (and still learning many design skills, as well as being an educator in an industry, that has taken me around the world a number of times.  “Are you for real – you seriously cut and paste for a living and travel the world”  (imagine the English accent spoken here) as one guy said to me on an trip overseas…  never really looked at it that way until then and thought – yeah actually I really do…  Now its great to be able to give this same opportunity to other educators in the industry as they join me on some of these cruises.

Along with my love of photography and travel, I am one of the fortunate ones who has been able to turn my hobby into not only a job, but a business. I still laugh when my beautiful girls inform me i don't have a real job.

Love (did i say love) getting my hands dirty, I LOVE PAPER, love exploring new techniques and would say my style evolves depending on the type of projects we are doing.  I'm not afraid to try something new and that is something I try to get across to those in my classes - there are no mistakes - only UNMISTAKABLE and unique creations .... oh did I mention I love to LAUGH and to have FUN!!!

But moreso than anything else on these cruises - I love watching people do something for the first time.  Whether that be a new technique in class or something they have wanted to tick off their bucket list and thought they wouldn't never do.  The belief in themselves that grows with that achievement, the excitement on their faces (yes you can see it) is something that makes the crazy hectic busy times all worthwhile.

Look forward to seeing you on board.

You will need to bring along a normal basic scrapbooking tool kit.  Similar to what you would bring to any retreat.

Items to definitely include:

Sense of humor
Willingness to have fun
And Patience (especially when fussy cutting)

Seriously though
  • - wet ones
  • - mini mister
  • - Cutting mat
  • - craft knife
  • - Paper trimmer hopefully with cm on them
  • - ruler - again with cm if possible / both would be great if your trimmer only shows inches. You will easily be able to convert if you have a ruler that shows both.
  • - edge distresser
  • - sanding block
  • - pallet knife or old credit card fir muddling paste
  • - pencil
  • - small scissors for fussy cutting( make sure these are in with your toiletries) and not in any carry on luggage
  • - foam tape
  • - tape runners/ adhesives including a gel medium or similar for embellishments
  • - blending Matt
  • -blending tool and extra foams

The following mixed media/ inks I have used. I will have one or two on table to share but easier if you have your own
  • - walnut distress ink (to ink edges) or similar
  • - speckled egg oxide ink
  • - Antique linen oxide ink
  • -light modeling paste (will have some for sale - will ask later who would like one
  • -gel medium ( will have some for sale- will ask later who would like one so I bring only what is needed)

You will be given kits for each class so its not necessary to bring along other scrapbooking products unless you have something specific in mind you want to work on whilst away.

Closer to the sailing date I will give you photograph requirements which you can either bring from home or cut up white card stock to relevant sizes so you can use on layouts and replace with a real photo when you have a suitable one.
