Jenny Healslip

Hi, my name is Jenny and I live in Brisbane, Queensland with my husband and my gorgeous cattle dog Ghost. I have two adult sons. I started scrapbooking about 15 years ago and it just felt right and it has been part of my life since then.

Photography is another big love of mine so being able to showcase photos on the pages I create is a bonus. So being a photographer means I have a lot of photos so I needed a way to get as many photos on pages as I could but without sacrificing a well composed clean page. Also, scrapbook paper is double sided and sometimes I can’t choose which side to use. So, I started to create my interactive layouts which allowed me to not only scrap 20 to 30 photos at a time but I also got to see both sides of the paper. I love when people “explore” my pages and discover all the hidden “openable” or “liftable” components.

You can find me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JennyHeaslipScrapbooker/

I live in sunny Queensland Australia in the beautiful Redlands which is the bayside of Brisbane and have been married to my husband Wayne for 30 years, we have 3 children Ashleigh (25) Brayden (24) and Taylah (19).

I started my “career” in the craft industry back in 1996 (yes 23 years ago) when my sister in law and I started our own party plan business selling rubber stamps and accessories and have worked in the papercrafting industry since then.

In 2014, 2015, 2016 I was so very proud to be the Guest Papercraft Artist for Expertise Events at their Craft & Quilt Fair shows in Australia and New Zealand, sharing my love of papercrafting with so many was such a fabulous experience. Another amazing experience I have had is travelling to South Africa to teach 6 times for events around South Africa for SA Scrapbook Convention, Scrapbook Studio’s Secret Event , Celebr8 Events and  Scrap and Decor.  I have crossed the ditch to teach classes and demonstrate at SENZ in 2016 & 2017 and 2018 for Warehouse Stationery.  I have also been blessed to have taught on a cruise ship back in 2016 and again in Feb 2019 for Australian Scrapbook Cruises!!!

While attending Creativation 2017 in Phoenix I was Guest Presenter on Create &Craft TV which filmed live from the show floor out to the whole of the USA which was so much fun and such a fabulous experience.

I am so very proud to have been the Design Team Coordinator, Brand Ambassador and Social Media Coordinator for Couture Creations for 6 years and will always be so thankful for many amazing times and experiences that gave over the 6 years.

I am very proud to be Guest Designer for Celebr8 South Africa and Celebr8 Australia

I am very excited to be part of the Little Birdie Crafts 2019 Design Team

I love that I can make a page as simple or as embellished as I want but for me it is about the photo and reliving the memory while I am scrapping. I also love to create beautiful cards, trying new techniques and adding texture to my projects.
I don't really have a set style it is usually how I am feeling when creating for myself or what I am doing that dictates what I create. I really love teaching and sharing my love of papercrafting and seeing how much joy it brings to those who attend classes and events.

I have made some fabulous friends over the years. I love this papercrafting world, the friendships built and the memories saved and of course all those gorgeous products we just have to have. I really love teaching and sharing my love of papercrafting and seeing how much joy it brings to those who attend classes and events.

I am so looking forward to meeting you all onboard the Serenade of the Seas in 2021

As my business name states, we are all unique and unmistakable creations. Made up of everyday life experiences, growing and changing with each new day.

I've been fortunate to have been a part of this Industry for now well over 25 years and as mentioned in my very first blog post on this website, now starting to see how everything learnt along the way is coming together. I have been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with some big companies within this industry, learn (and still learning many design skills, as well as being an educator in an industry, that has taken me around the world a number of times.  “Are you for real – you seriously cut and paste for a living and travel the world”  (imagine the English accent spoken here) as one guy said to me on an trip overseas…  never really looked at it that way until then and thought – yeah actually I really do…  Now its great to be able to give this same opportunity to other educators in the industry as they join me on some of these cruises.

Along with my love of photography and travel, I am one of the fortunate ones who has been able to turn my hobby into not only a job, but a business. I still laugh when my beautiful girls inform me i don't have a real job.

Love (did i say love) getting my hands dirty, I LOVE PAPER, love exploring new techniques and would say my style evolves depending on the type of projects we are doing.  I'm not afraid to try something new and that is something I try to get across to those in my classes - there are no mistakes - only UNMISTAKABLE and unique creations .... oh did I mention I love to LAUGH and to have FUN!!!

But moreso than anything else on these cruises - I love watching people do something for the first time.  Whether that be a new technique in class or something they have wanted to tick off their bucket list and thought they wouldn't never do.  The belief in themselves that grows with that achievement, the excitement on their faces (yes you can see it) is something that makes the crazy hectic busy times all worthwhile.

Look forward to seeing you on board.

You will need to bring along a normal basic scrapbooking tool kit.  Similar to what you would bring to any retreat.

Items to definitely include:

  • craft matt – needs only to be a small A4 mat but something to use with your craft knife.
  • craft knife
  • small scissors (blades to be no longer than 4″)
  • edge distressor
  • adhesives….lots of them  (include tape runners/adhesive tape and glues for embellishments)

Optional Extra’s  (not necessary but certainly helps if you have them

  • mini mister
  • apron
  • baby wipes (to clean up your area and hands) – no taps in the conference room to wash hands.

You will be given kits for each class so its not necessary to bring along other scrapbooking products unless you have something specific in mind you want to work on whilst away.

Closer to the sailing date I will give you photograph requirements which you can either bring from home or cut up white card stock to relevant sizes so you can use on layouts and replace with a real photo when you have a suitable one.

These more details class requirements (if any) will be given out closer to the cruise.
