All things work together for good

Beyond what you look like or sound like,
your entire life’s journey is unique.
A one of a kind picture, made up of beautiful pieces.”

I read the above quote today and couldn’t help but think these words apply to my business name and beliefs.  We are all unique and unmistakable creations.  Made up of everyday life experiences, growing and changing each new day.

Only today was I discussing with a friend how the things I have been fortunate enough to do over the past number of years are starting to all work together in my new business.  All things I’ve learnt along the way in a variety of jobs; accountant, database programmer, secretary, direct selling, creative director where i have been fortunate to learn many design skills, as well as an educator in a hobby, that has taken me around the world a number of times.  “Are you for real – you seriously cut and paste  (imagine the English accent here) for a living and travel the world” as one guy said to me on a trip overseas…  I never really looked at it that way until then and then thought – yeah actually I do…

Add to the above a photography course that I did for one year with my dad  (what i thought was a 6 week course turned into a Cert 3 & 4) and my love of travel, my hobbies have turned into a business.   I laugh as one of my girls still informs me that its not a real job, and I shouldn’t tell them to get a proper one when I don’t have one… hmmmmm.  Well that job – real enough, has managed to take them on holidays that we couldn’t otherwise afford and regular cruises.

In my classes I also use the quote with the ladies – “there is no such thing as a mistake – only a unique creation” which is where the name originally stemmed from  two years ago when my dad registered Unmistakable Creations as a business and gave it to me for a birthday present.  He has always believed and encouraged me to do something – never really thinking it would turn into this.   When the lady I was working with on cruises over the past 8 years wanted to take a break, I then thought this was the perfect opportunity to do something for myself – so the beginnings of doing more scrapbooking cruises with a view to adding different genres in the future.  With the massive support of my local travel agency Geelong Travel, I have three cruises lined up for the next 18 months, two nearly booked out and looking at more options currently.  This all goes to show you that even though I had my ideas about what I wanted to do with my life, God had other ideas.  Because seriously – Who else could put all my favourite things – travel, photography, scrapbooking, teaching and meeting people and having FUN into ONE job…

Taking a look back over the past 12 months, with us moving into a new home, (an answer to prayer in itself -it ticked all the boxes after searching for so long – a story in itself) and other opportunities that have risen, I can’t help but wonder where all this is all leading.  In a few months Im about to turn the big 50 and I still don’t really know what my future holds (thankfully I don’t have to) – for those of you reading this (especially if you are younger – DON’T STRESS) – its a comforting thought to know you don’t have to have it all together – you don’t need to know where you’re going or even how you’ll get there, just keep working towards something and with that alone you are on your way.  Its only now when I look back over the years that I can see how all the paths I have taken are merging..

I don’t know where Im going but it feels good to be LOST in the right direction.

I just have to keep trusting in God and he keeps on reminding me everyday that his plans are bigger than my dreams.  And as His good book says – “All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose“.

I look forward to sharing with you my travels and adventures with Unmistakable Creations and better still hope to meet you one day on one of the cruises or classes that we have.  Thanks for stopping by.
