South Pacific Scrapbooking – Jan 2020

Join myself and the gorgeous Anguree Jansen Van Rensburg as we head back once again to the South Pacific Islands for 12 nights.  Anguree is currently on both Design Teams for 49 & Market and 13Arts and her classes will be featuring these brands.

If you have never been before this is the perfect cruise to get a glimpse of some of the very best islands this area has to offer; such as Lifou, Mare and a personal favourite Isle Of Pines.  Just to tempt you even further Mystery Island has been thrown in there too.

Places in the classes are limited. Don’t miss out. Get a few of your friends and book together.

Welcome aboard  VOYAGER of the Seas for this 12 Nights adventure.

The incredible Voyager of the Seas® introduced many of the iconic features that Royal Caribbean guests still love today. Conquer the rock-climbing wall, or find your adventure on the basketball court, ice-skating rink or mini-golf course. If it's zen you seek, achieve it poolside or at the relaxing VitalitySM Spa. Liven up your nights on the Royal Promenade, with parades, dancing, and duty-free shopping deals. And bring along some friends—with spacious public areas, enhanced staterooms, and a spectacular three-story dining room, this ship has room for your whole crew.

Hello there, my name is Anguree, and I am super excited to come and cruise with you.

I am married to an wonderful guy and live in beautiful Darwin.
We have no children except for a very spoiled Chocolate Labrador, Charlie.
I love to travel and also enjoy spending time in nature.

Fun fact:
I love to travel but sometimes my all responsible self gets left at home and the crazy inner-child comes along.
On one holiday I have bungee jumped with both a pushbike and a scooter.
Why, you ask me? Uhmm I wanted the photo... 😉😜

I  started crafting at a very early age and paint, colour and beads have always captured my imagination. Growing up in a small rural town in South-Africa meant that I had to be creative and make the most of things I could find around the house. Food colour, coffee and bits and bobs from mom's sewing cupboard had to do the job in addition to a couple pots of paint or watercolor from the only stationary store in town. I discovered scrapbooking in it's formal form about 13 years ago, but things really stared to click into place in 2013, when I had the opportunity to meet a couple of the fabulous ladies in our scrapbooking world. I attended their classes and made wonderful friends in the process.Through their love, encouragement and support I eventually found my way and learned the skills I needed for this beautiful hobby.   In 2016, I won Australia's Card-maker of the year Competition and have been fortunate to have my work featured various magazines in Australia. I am very fortunate to work with two of my favorite manufactures namely 13Arts and 49 And Market. In addition I also design for Scrappy Chat Designs, More than Words Challenges and Kraft Plus.

Through the years I've worked with wonderful people and different design teams and manufactures including Scrap FX.

I'm truly humbled by the opportunities that I have been given and can only say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can't wait spend some time with you and  hope that I can inspire and encourage you  in the little time we have together. My wish is that you will experience the same joy, support and love in doing what you love and creating beautiful work.

If you want to know more about me, follow these links and have a peak at some of the fun stuff you could be doing in a couple of weeks.

HOST / Instructor - Melissa Kennedy
As my business name states, we are all unique and unmistakable creations. Made up of everyday life experiences, growing and changing with each new day.

I've been fortunate to have been a part of this Industry for now well over 25 years and as mentioned in my very first blog post on this website, now starting to see how everything learnt along the way is coming together. I have been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with some big companies within this industry, learn (and still learning many design skills, as well as being an educator in an industry, that has taken me around the world a number of times.  “Are you for real – you seriously cut and paste for a living and travel the world”  (imagine the English accent spoken here) as one guy said to me on an trip overseas…  never really looked at it that way until then and thought – yeah actually I really do…  Now its great to be able to give this same opportunity to other educators in the industry as they join me on some of these cruises.

Along with my love of photography and travel, I am one of the fortunate ones who has been able to turn my hobby into not only a job, but a business. I still laugh when my beautiful girls inform me i don't have a real job.

Love (did i say love) getting my hands dirty, I LOVE PAPER, love exploring new techniques and would say my style evolves depending on the type of projects we are doing.  I'm not afraid to try something new and that is something I try to get across to those in my classes - there are no mistakes - only UNMISTAKABLE and unique creations .... oh did I mention I love to LAUGH and to have FUN!!!

But moreso than anything else on these cruises - I love watching people do something for the first time.  Whether that be a new technique in class or something they have wanted to tick off their bucket list and thought they wouldn't never do.  The belief in themselves that grows with that achievement, the excitement on their faces (yes you can see it) is something that makes the crazy hectic busy times all worthwhile.

Look forward to seeing you on board.

You will need to bring along a normal basic scrapbooking tool kit.  Similar to what you would bring to any retreat.

Items to definitely include:

  • craft matt – needs only to be a small A4 mat but something to use with your craft knife.
  • messy mat - blending mate
  • blending tool and replacement foams
  • craft knife
  • small scissors (blades to be no longer than 4″)
  • edge distressor
  • adhesives….lots of them  (include tape runners/adhesive tape and glues for embellishments)  Gel medium works a treat for most embellishments.

Optional Extra’s  (not necessary but certainly helps if you have them

  • mini mister
  • apron
  • baby wipes (to clean up your area and hands) – no taps in the conference room to wash hands.

You will be given kits for each class so its not necessary to bring along other scrapbooking products unless you have something specific in mind you want to work on whilst away.

Closer to the sailing date I will give you photograph requirements which you can either bring from home or cut up white card stock to relevant sizes so you can use on layouts and replace with a real photo when you have a suitable one.
